Iran's 15th Resistance Int'l Film Festival starts

The 15th Resistance Int’l Film Festival starts in presence of IRGC commander and cineastes.

The 15th edition of the Resistance International Film Festival (RIFF) have been started on November 26 in presence of Major General Mohammad-Ali Jafari, commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a number of Iranian officials and cineastes.

At the beginning of the opening ceremony, Mohammad Khazaee, the secretary of the 15th RIFF, told the audience “with your support we hold a brilliant ceremony and we are pleased for receiving movies from around the world.”

Major General Jafari who was one of the speakers of the ceremony said “whatever we have is for the nation's resistance. All around the world people talk about Iranian's resistance. Iranian nation is successful in following Imam Hossein's (AS) path.”

Jafari added artists who are active in resistance front should have jihad morale.

Then the winners of the festival were announced and received their awards.

Narges Abyar, Ebrahim Hatamikia and Mohammad-Hossein Mahdavian were awarded at screenplay category.

Parviz Parastoui, Hadi Hejazifar and Merila Zarei were selected as bests in acting category.

Ebrahim Hatamikia, Masoud Dehnamaki and the late director Rasoul Mollaqolipour were awarded at directing category.

‘The Glass Agency’, ‘The Outcasts’ (Ekhrajiha) and ‘Track 143’ were chosen as the best films.

In another part of the ceremony, the best short films were awarded.

'Silence Again' by Razieh Seraji, 'Tasooki' by Seyyed-Pouria Pishvaee and 'Mother' by Maria Maavati were awarded. Ahmad Zayeri was praised for his 'Saad's Olive Tree' at the same part.

This edition of the festival has received more than 1600 submissions, including feature, short and documentary films, from more than 70 countries around the globe.

Most of the submissions have been from the US and France. Filmmakers from Germany, Turkey, England, Italy, Canada, Spain, Brazil and dozens of other countries have also applied to take part at the event.

The RIFF is dedicated to productions on wars and the repercussions of armed conflicts in the world.

It also puts a spotlight on the resistance of the Palestinian people against the Zionist regime, Daesh and their terrorist attacks in the region, and the world’s tyrants and their backing of Daesh.

The RIFF is being organized every year by the Revayat Cultural Foundation and the Film Association of the Islamic Revolution and the Sacred Defense in collaboration with other cultural organizations.

The 15th edition of the RIFF has been slated for November 26-December 1, 2018, at Felestin Theater Hall in Tehran.
